This is a place called home… this is a place for peace.
This is Jennifer Futrell
As many of you may know, Jennifer was struck while riding her bike on Bardstown Rd. on October 3rd and sadly, she passed away. I can’t say that I knew Jennifer but I do know hundreds of people just like her. Men and women, young and old, rich and poor, who travel the streets of this city by bike. These are a unique people whose chosen mode of transportation is a little different than most.
This blog is dedicated to all of our friends who have died while cycling. Thousands of Louisvillians take to the streets every day, some out of necessity, some in pursuit of fitness and some for the sheer joy of riding. This blog is not a place to point fingers. This is not a place for anger. This is a blog to share the lives of those who ride the streets, the faces and the places they live, the streets they ride, and the roads we all share.

I LOVE your blog! Great concept and follow-through! I found out about it because somebody left a business card on my yellow bike at U of L with the link on it. I’m def gonna check this out every time i sit at the computer.
Daniel – it was nice meeting you today while out riding.
As I mentioned, I meet my husband while out on a bike ride. He runs a website called HikingintheSmokys.com, and ran into a cycling website today for a new guidebook for the Knoxville, Tn area. On the website, they state that it’s the law that drivers must give at least 3 feet clearance when passing – this is something that was passed just last year. Not sure if we have anything like this in Ky, but if we don’t, this might be something that your organization could pursue?
Just an FYI. Here’s the link (the law is the lower right hand corner):

Thank you for creating this very simple and open site for all of us who love to bike-David Berman
I love your site! I found out about it from the business cards you left at the bike shop where I work. There is a website that you should know about, as it fits perfectly with this site. It was run by a fellow cyclist who was struck & killed a few years ago. http://www.kenkifer.com/bikepages
Keep up the good work & see you on the road! =D
